Ο Άγιος Παΐσιος ο Αγιορείτης ήταν Έλληνας Καππαδόκης μοναχός του 20ού αιώνα που έγινε ευρέως γνωστός για τον μοναστικό του βίο και το έργο του.
Το 2015 ανακηρύχθηκε Άγιος της Ορθοδόξου Εκκλησίας από το Οικουμενικό Πατριαρχείο Κωνσταντινουπόλεως και η μνήμη του εορτάζεται στις 12 Ιουλίου.
Ο Αρσένιος Εζνεπίδης, όπως ήταν το κοσμικό του όνομα, γεννήθηκε στα Φάρασα της Καππαδοκίας στις 25 Ιουλίου 1924. Ο πατέρας του ονομαζόταν Πρόδρομος ενώ η μητέρα του λεγόταν Ευλαμπία και είχε ακόμα 8 αδέλφια.
Τον άυγουστο του1924, μία εβδομάδα πριν οι χριστιανοί φύγουν για την Ελλάδα λόγω της ανταλλαγής πληθυσμών μεταξύ Ελλάδας και Τουρκίας, βαφτίστηκε από τον ιερέα της ενορίας Αρσένιο,. Ο Αρσένιος επέμεινε και του έδωσε το δικό του όνομα «για να αφήσει καλόγερο στο πόδι του», όπως χαρακτηριστικά είχε πει.Πέρασε απο διάφορα μοναστήρια του Αγίου Όρους για να μονάσει. Εκεί γνώρισε τον γέροντα Κύριλλο της Μονής Κουτλουμουσίου και τον ακολούθησε πιστά. Λίγο αργότερα εντάχθηκε στη Μονή Εσφιγμένου και εκάρη μοναχός με το όνομα Αβέρκιος. Το 1954 έφυγε από τη μονή Εσφιγμένου και εντάχθηκε στη Μονή Φιλοθέου, . Η συνάντησή του, όμως, με το γέροντα Συμεών ήταν καταλυτική για την πορεία και διαμόρφωση του μοναχικού χαρακτήρα του. Τότε ήταν που έλαβε και το όνομα Παΐσιος.
Το 1958 πήγε στην Ιερά Μονή Γενεθλίων της Θεοτόκου στο Στόμιο Κονίτσης. Στην περιοχή, όπου μεγάλωσε, έμεινε για 4 χρόνια περίπου, και άφησε πίσω του σπουδαίο ποιμαντικό και φιλανθρωπικό έργο στην περιοχή της Κόνιτσας.Το 1962 ο Παΐσιος πήγε στο Όρος Σινά και το 1964 επέστρεψε στο Άγιο Όρος, απ’ όπου δεν ξανάφυγε ποτέ. Το 1966 χτυπήθηκε απο τον καρκίνο και στο διάστημα της ανάρρωσή του εφιλοξενήτο στο Ιερό Ησυχαστήριο του Αγίου Ιωάννου του Ευαγγελιστού στη Σουρωτή. Επέστρεψε στο Άγιο Όρος μετά την ανάρρωσή του και το 1968 βοήθησε σημαντικά στην ανακαίνιση της Μονής Σταυρονικήτα.
Το 1979 εντάχθηκε στην αδελφότητα της Μονής Κουτλουμουσίου και εγκαταστάθηκε στη σκήτη της Παναγούδας. Από τότε άρχισε να γίνεται γνωστός από τους πιστούς, που τον επισκέπτονταν και του ζητούσαν συμβουλές για προσωπικά τους θέματα.Είχε διορατικό και προορατικό χάρισμα απο τον Θεό από τα λεγόμενα αυτών που τον γνώρισαν.Το 1993 η κατάσταση της υγείας του επιδεινώθηκε.
Τις τελευταίες μέρες της ζωής του αποφάσισε να μην παίρνει φάρμακα ή παυσίπονα, παρά τους φρικτούς πόνους που ένοιωθε. Τελικά, κοιμήθηκε στις 12 Ιουλίου 1994 και ετάφη στο Ιερό Ησυχαστήριο του Αγίου Ιωάννη του Θεολόγου στη Σουρωτή Θεσσαλονίκης.
